I’m Rondia Kaufer, a retired Registered Nurse and the creator and curator of From Chains to Change and The Freedom Archives.

My work explores Black history through the people, towns, families, institutions, and everyday communities whose stories are too often overlooked. I follow the questions, compare sources, and keep digging until I can understand not only what happened, but why it matters.

The Freedom Archives grew from that work — a place to preserve these stories, connect them to the present, and make sure the people who built, protected, and carried freedom forward are remembered.
